MC Transition and Handover May 2007

Hello friends!

I'm back in the bloggers world... My last posting I wrote somewhere in the mid-April so more than a month ago. Since that there has been and has not been so much happening. Has been happening meaning that I have been quite busy but has not been happening meaning that I have been so busy that I haven't had so much time to do things. So the name of the May for me has been MC transition. Maybe before telling more about that I tell how it was to come back to Finland.

I came back to Finland on 16th of April. After that I came straight away to Helsinki to prepare for the DSD (=Direction Setting Days) and Input. First one are planning days for the local committee presidents in AIESEC in Finland and the latter one is a national planning seminar of AIESEC in Finland. DSD and Input were eventually the first seminars where I was facilitating session by myself on a national level in Finland. Both seminars were really cool especially because I was able to work again with my team and meet the people I am going to work with on a national level in Finland during the upcoming term.

After DSD and Input I had few days of holiday before starting the transition in the MC. Those days I spent by visiting my grandmother, parents and some other relatives. After family visits I went to Jyväskylä to take part to AIESEC in Jyväskylä's cottage trip. The trip was loads of fun! Really good way of getting my thoughts for a while a bit away from AIESEC. From Jyväskylä I travelled further to Tampere to celebrate Wappu with some AIESEC friends in Tampere. That was also loads of fun! Tampere is a really cool "Wappu-city":)

After Wappu I traveled already to Helsinki to start my transition. The transition in the MC basically means that the current MC team is transferring as much as possible their knowledge to the elected team. During the transition we did every day at least 8 hour days. The whole month was quite exhausting also because we spent so much time together. While also sleeping on a couch in the MC flat livingroom for a month. The lack of privacy can easily get on one's nerves.

One thing included for the transition were organizing the functional weekends. In functional weekends the ICX-, OGX-, HR/D- and the LCP-teams met each other. I took part organizing the Exchange-functional weekend where both ICX- and OGX-teams were.

Finally at the end of the month came the time to have the traditional annual "Handover"-day for the elected team. The idea of that day was that the elected MC team has to go around Helsinki and perform some interesting tasks. This year our Handover consisted of having breakfast with beer on the "Kantsu" (=MC-flat) roof. After that we got our team shirts and other decoration for ourselves. Then we dressed up as metrosexuals in Zara, bought a dildo, went to Suomenlinna for a picnic etc. The day was a really nice one...

After our Handover day there was a party in the evening. That was a cool party even though I at least personally I was really tired so I went to sleep quite early.

The next evening there was another party which was the goodbye party for the current MC. This party was also quite a cool one also because there was so many people and older members...

Goodbye Team Possible! We will miss you guys!
