Running again

Yeap, my fourth marathon is now behind. This time the place was Hämeenlinna, a city an hour north from Helsinki. I went there with Petsa, a runner friend of mine from Helsinki. I have to say that this wasn't an easy run either.

This time my goal was 3:45:00 which would become also the personal best of mine. So let's tell how the run went...

Our plan with Petsa was to run together to the finish to make this record for me. For Petsa this run would only be a "fun run" as his personal record is some 3:20:00! So we had clear plan of running with a steady pace from the beginning to the end. It all started pretty well. In the beginning it was actually quite difficult to hold the pace so low because usually I run much faster while training. 3:45 makes the pace of 5min 19s per kilometer. Usually I train with a bit faster pace. So now the first 10km were just warming up. After 20km I started to feel my legs a bit already. I already had the feeling that it might still become a tough run... But I still had the belief for our goal. After 30km I started feeling really bad. I had again that asthmatic feeling of not getting enough air to my lungs and my legs were saying to me: "hell no, you won't run till the end". That's the fun-part of a marathon. You just have to say back to them: "hell yeah, I will":). So with support of Petsa I was struggling further and further. 35, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, and there we were! Running the last half a stadium to the finish with full speed felt great! That is a feeling that one just has to love! It's like drug: the feeling of over-exceeding yourself. Well, we did not break my record with our finishing time of 3:48:56 but it was not that far! And it was still my personal best so I am still happy. It was a great race!

The feeling after running a marathon is also great. Everything feels absolutely magnificent: having a shower, sitting down;), eating, drinking (loads of water), having a beer... Oh yeah! Even though at 35km I thought that it was my last marathon;) I have already signed up for the next one in Åland (achripelago at the South-West coast of Finland) in the end of October. Let's see what's my goal then. Now I think that I start training more seriously;)

Below is the proof that I did the run;)
